Walton Jr. number one in Puerto Rico BSN for week 14

American Guard Derrick Walton Jr. (185-G-1995) had a great game in the last week for second-ranked Capitanes de Arecibo, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for week 14.
The 30-year old player got a double-double of 25 points and 11 assists, while his team edged out Mayaguez (#4, 8-10) 101-99. Capitanes maintains the 2nd position in their group in the Puerto Rican BSN. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Arecibo will need more victories to improve their 12-4 record. Walton Jr. just recently signed at Capitanes, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Former University of Michigan star has very solid stats this year. Walton Jr. is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 8.6apg) and averages impressive 55.8% FGP.

The second best player in last week's games was young American Antonio Gordon (206-C-2001) of league's leader Atleticos de San German. Gordon had a very good evening with 28 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course he led Atleticos to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Manati (#5, 7-11) 108-87. This victory allowed San German to move up to 1st position in Group B. His team has currently 13-6 record. Gordon is one of the most experienced players at San German and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last week was Australian forward Xavier Cooks (203-F-1995) of league's top team Vaqueros de Bayamon. Cooks scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Vaqueros, leading his team to a 82-80 win against the lower-ranked Santurce (#6, 6-12). Bayamon confirms their top position in Group B. Their record at this point is 13 victories and 8 lost games. Cooks has a great season in Puerto Rico. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 6.8rpg (8th best). He also has 1.1bpg and a FGP of 75.0%.

5. Thomas Robinson (203-C-1991) of Quebradillas - 18 points and 12 rebounds
6. Emmanuel Mudiay (196-G-1996) of Quebradillas - 26 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Tyrell Harrison (214-C-1999) of Mayaguez - 20 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Nathan Sobey (190-G-1990) of Mayaguez - 22 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists
9. Kristian Doolittle (201-F-1997) of Manati - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Louis King (201-F-1999) of Caguas - 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
